As a governing body, we are determined that the children of this school have the best possible education and leave us as articulate and informed individuals with a thirst for knowledge and a desire to succeed in their futures.
The governing board of Colton Primary school contains parents, staff and members of the community. We are dedicated to supporting and challenging our Head teacher Mrs Johnson in her vision for Colton Primary School to be an excellent teaching school.
We meet on a regular basis to
- Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Hold the Head teacher to account for educational performance of the school and performance management of staff
- Oversee the financial performance of the school
There are further duties which you can find on the national governance website (nga.org.uk)
All schools nationally face extreme funding challenges and Colton is no exception to this, we carefully oversee the school budget and ensure that any additional funding is used effectively to provide a positive impact for the children attending our school.
Governors conduct effective school visits directly related to a strong school development plan, reporting back on these visits help our excellent staff deliver the best possible outcomes for children in a safe learning environment.
The school and education sector continues to evolve and so too must our governing body, we regularly complete a skills audit, appointing new governors who address our weaknesses. We also prioritise self-evaluation and reviews of our past performance in order to provide the excellent governance needed for Colton primary school to thrive.
